In 2020, OCP and OpenBMC set out to open the management layer inside a single server. Five years and a generation of AI infrastructure later, that work has scaled further than anyone expected — and so has the challenge. Everything inside the AI rack is converging, and none of it can keep being managed as a separate discipline.

The solution is a cohesive strategy that the whole community builds together, open enough that no vendor and no partner gets left behind.

This Day 0 gathering is where AMI and the OCP community carry that conversation forward: from managing the AI rack to a shared foundation for systems that boot, measure, attest, monitor, predict, update and recover on their own — wherever they sit.

Firmware, and the control plane it anchors, now sits at the intersection of five converging pressures: fragmentation across heterogeneous silicon, rising security demands, dynamic power and thermal behavior, fleet-scale operations, and out-of-band reliability that has to match the value of the workloads above it. In this joint opening, Sanjoy Maity and Ford Tamer lay out why an open, unified control plane spanning silicon to software has become foundational to how AI factories get built — and what that shift means for the silicon providers, platform builders, and operators in the room.

Session Speakers: Jacob Yundt, Director of Compute Architecture, CoreWeave Session Abstract: Three operating models. Real management challenges. What needs to change to make autonomous data centers possible? In this panel, AI infrastructure operators managing collocated hardware, self-serve cloud platforms, and fully owned data centers share the realities behind their fleets: where existing management tools fall short, what they’ve built in-house, and what it takes to maintain those systems as they scale. The discussion explores where their needs differ, where common gaps emerge, and what those experiences reveal about the foundations required for autonomy. Grounded in operator experience rather than a solution pitch.
10:45 – 11:15 AMI Community Edition Move to "Open First" Model
Session Speakers: Zachary Bobroff, VP Product Management, AMI Anurag Bhatia, Corporate Vice President - Manageability & Security Group, AMI Session Abstract: When AMI launched MegaRAC OneTree Community Edition at OCP EMEA in April, we positioned it as a proving ground for open innovation in BMC firmware — a single codebase, released under the OpenBMC license, built to take on the fragmentation problem head-on. Six months in, we're taking the next step. Under the Open First model, new capabilities across the MegaRAC OneTree portfolio land in the community edition first: developed transparently, hardened alongside Alliance partners and operators, and only then flowing downstream to commercially supported products. This session walks through what Open First means in practice — the development cadence, how contributions are governed, how partners across the silicon-to-software stack plug in, and how operators can pull the code, run it, and shape what comes next. It's a working invitation, not a roadmap slide.

Session Speakers: Zane Ball, CTO, OCP Foundation Rebecca Weekly, CTO, brk tech (Berkshire Hathaway); former OCP President and Chair Moderator: Allyson Klein, CEO, TechArena Session Abstract: Autonomous infrastructure will require more than individual components that work well on their own. It will require those components to work together, with the visibility, coordination, and trust needed to act across the infrastructure stack. This OCP-led discussion brings together perspectives from across the community to explore how established projects can contribute to that foundation, where cross-project coordination is needed, and what security and governance must be in place as systems take on greater responsibility. The panel sets the context for a new workstream focused on the shared layer needed to support autonomous data centers.
